The Sergio Hudson Fall 2022 RTW show, simply entitled Collection 10, has crossed my mind at least five times a day since I first saw it. Named the Designer of the Year at Harlem Fashion Row’s 15th Anniversary Style Awards ceremony just days prior, Sergio Hudson showed New York Fashion Week exactly why he received that honor.

The opening look set the tone for the show strutting a little black dress with a color-blocked bosom and midsection. This collection is ageless and embodies confidence to a tee. It is office chic dressing for the professional femmes of the future. An attention-grabbing color palette, retro shoulder pads, cinched waists via precise tailoring and belting, and fun color blocking makes this runway stellar.
There bold quartet of leopard print looks perfect for a mob wife and slip dresses that aren’t disconnected from the tailored pieces because of their vibrant hues. Hudson even snuck a few basic catsuits in there amongst all of the color and personality. A few nip slips happened as the models walked, but they don’t seem to be accidental and look perfectly placed in the pictures.

It’s hard to pick a favorite, but my eyes keep getting drawn back to a burnt orange monochromatic ensemble with knee-high boots, a velvet suede belt cinching in the midsection, and a cropped, jacket with an extra, extra large lapel.
How does one collection manage to artfully display Beetlejuice stripes and polka dots one after the other? I’d have to ask Sergio Hudson cause I don’t know how he did it
The closing look is a white dress with thick black lines. Doesn’t sound like it’d be eye-catching, but I can’t seem to look away from the black line that starts high on the waist and then slopes down and back up to tenderly caress the fupa. Multihyphenate Issa Rae wore a custom version of this gown to the 2022 Emmys!
