Casting director and producer Dionne Cochrane posted a mini Twitter thread succinctly explaining to hopefuls how to model during NYFW.

Okay so it’s still kinda early to ask about #nyfw castings.

This is a great time to get new digitals shot. Have good lighting , no makeup and no crazy retouching.

If you are an independent model you can also make your own comp cards and print at staples.

Cochrane has an esteemed resume with casting and producing for the likes of Aliétte, Theophilio, House of Aama, Fe Noel, Google, Black Fashion Fair, and Shea Moisture just to name a few. So believe me when I say, Cochrane knows what she’s talking about.

Her advice is easy to follow,

1. Have up-to-date and well shot digitals. No makeup, no crazy retouching and make sure you have good lighting. Google “model digitals” for examples.
2. When emailing casting directors, keep the email short and to the point. Include shows you’ve previously walked in, your digitals, measurements, location, and Instagram.
3. In order to see casting calls, check the Instagram of brands on the official NYFW schedule and follow casting directors. These are the two places casting calls are most likely to be posted in the modern day.
