It’s cold. I’m from Massachusetts. Trust me when I say it’s cold; it’s cold for real. With the biting season change, comes the rotation of winter coats to the front of the closet.
Recently there’s been a slew of TikTok videos of women talking about their Mackage coats. Mackage coats are the NYC winter-baddie staple that I knew nothing about. So this post is me being nosey and investigating, for all of us inquiring minds.
Mackage is a luxury outwear brand founded by Eran Elfassy in 1999. The brand’s goal is, “to elevate outerwear with a unique balance of fashion and protection.” Mackage refuses to compromise aesthetics for performance, creating collections with the finest leathers, down, and wool. This paired with impeccable silhouettes and highly wearable – but never boring – neutral tones set the brand apart.

While looking through the Mackage website, a gold leather trench coat caught my browsing eye. But, that’s not the NYC staple. They favor the ADALI down coat with the signature Mackage Collar.
The coat is certainly Northeast winter-approved purely off of aesthetics. The fur-lined hood, neutral color options (black being the most popular of course,) and extra fabric extending from the sleeve to cover the wrists are pretty uniform in this part of the United States.
I own a coat that fits that exact description! But mine didn’t retail for $1,190. Yes, you read that right. Mackage is a luxury brand, after all, making their products with the best natural fur and down – a thermal insulator and padding common in winter coats. And from what I hear, Mackage’s coats keep the girls toasty.
So if you touch down in NYC this winter, you already know what type of time the girls are on!
