I’ve previously spoken about The Great Skirt Dilemma as one of many who run into trouble wearing short skirts. Too often, shorter skirts are too short-literally short enough to catch a public indecency charge–in the back but the perfect length in the front. As someone who’s thicker and has a high back butt, I’ve never been able to wear mini skirts. This fact has been distressing to my little fashion heart. But SIZED the Brand, a Black woman-owned size-inclusive brand, has a solution to The Great Skirt Dilemma in production.
Yesterday, SIZED shared pictures of a few sample pieces on their Instagram story and Twitter page. Seeking customer weigh in on the designs, SIZED showed us a watercolor tank, a mesh watercolor long sleeve, and a mini skirt, all of the same design.

The stand-out garment was indeed the mini skirt. In the sample picture, you can tell that the skirt is manufactured with additional length in the back to account for the length discrepancy once worn. You’d think this would be a common practice in the industry, but I digress. SIZED’s owner and founder, Rebecca Alexis, identified our pain point as consumers and hot girls and is coming to the rescue. But really, what else did we expect from a designer that goes so hard about size inclusion and celebration?
Another big talking point from the sample sneak-peek was the long sleeve mesh top. The Instagram story polls weren’t exactly sold on the top as shown, but Rebecca Alexis assured us not to worry as this is just the early stages! The response has been quite funny, resulting in SIZED’s official Twitter account tweeting out, “wait, don’t sleep on this y’all” about said top.
