At the 2017 Grammys, Queen Bey accepted the award for Best Urban Contemporary Album for Lemonade. Greatness. Beyoncé delivered a breathtaking, yet alarming, performance with the famed chair tip.
Peter Dundas drew inspiration from the paintings of Gustav Klimt, Art Deco design, and the beautiful lyrics of “Love Drought” to design this iconic dress. The sun rays gracing the crown of Beyonce’s head represent the orisha Oshun. The image on her belly is of Beyoncé herself, watching over her twins– Rumi and Sir.
The dress took one week to embroider with 50 sets of hands working around the clock. Additionally, Dundas had to consider Beyoncé’s constantly changing measurements. This was Peter Dundas’ first solo creation to ever grace a red carpet. What an amazing first outing.
Rihanna at the 2014 CFDA Awards
This sheer Adam Selman Swarovski crystal entrusted dress Rihanna wore in 2014 still lives at the forefront of many people’s minds.
This Old Hollywood glamorous red carpet moment incited a media frenzy. Fashion icons tend to do that. Oh, want to know what happened at the CFDA Awards that night? The Council of Fashion Designers of America awarded Rihanna the Fashion Icon Award.
However, Rihanna has since gone on record to say that she does have one regret.
“I just liked it better without the lines underneath. Could you imagine the CFDA dress with a bra? I would slice my throat. I already wanted to, for wearing a thong that wasn’t bedazzled. That’s the only regret I have in my life.”

Mary J. Blige’s Fur Coat & Boots
A living icon, one of the godmothers of modern R&B, Mary J. Blige is the embodiment of ghetto fabulous.
The blonde-haired beauty has been photographed over the years participating in historic fashion trends. She’s often cited when discussing the monogram trend and the laidback red carpets of the y2k era.

Nicki Minaj in “Super Bass”
The music video for Nicki Minaj’s first smash hit “Super Bass” was released in May of 2011. And the rap game was forever changed.
It only makes sense for the dual-tone wig, pink zebra print bodysuit, lime green pumps, and oversized bangles to be immortalized.
This ensemble is just an early taste of the whimsical and sometimes straight-up outlandish looks of the Roman era. Good times that will one day be in a museum. No doubt.

Disney star turned Hollywood heavy-hitter, Zendaya is one sharp dresser. That’s expected when working with a stylist of such acclaim as Law Roach.
Zendaya repeatedly upstages the men when she wears suits on the red carpet. The conversation around this particular suit was who wore it better: Michael B. Jordan or Zendaya. The general consensus gave the W to the Euphoria star.
At only 25 years old, Zendaya has a long career of captivating audiences on screen and wowing on the red carpet. Anticipate Zendaya’s suit strutting being a must-include in future documentaries and style analyses.
